Data Analyst - Intern

As an intern at Light house guild, I was able to create a SQL database for the finance department. The creation of the database consisted of first distinguishing what we needed to access. I worked on creating the tables, drawing the diagram flow and finally creating the SQL database.

Primary Goal: To create a database to store the hours worked from the health service department as well as the records of the clients. The staff and staff managers will be able to enter information, only the staff manager can access reports. The first task was to design a flow chart and ask the client the necessary questions to design the tables. As a front end, forms will be created for access to make it feasible for the visually impaired.

Given: We received excel files with all the data that had been recorded from the health service department, most of it goes back to 2015. There is a lot of redundancy in the files and there can be groupings. The staff manager creates logs for the information of the client, holding an identification number that will be used throughout our database to employ data analysis. The reports on the staff and their data entry are only using a first and last name basis as a form of identification which can result in future problems, therefore a form of unique identification for the employees has to be created.

Because there was a lot of null values for the client_id,we cleaned the files and performed v-lookup to garner missing information. The staff do not like change and want things simplified from the excel sheet, therefore these fields would be ideal and precise to meet the goal of simplification.

Finally, in order for the Finance department to use the application, the front end was designed using MS Visio. The overall project came together for use, being able to track client information and make yearly reports at a faster rate.
